In the men’s 55 kg weight division, Sanket Mahadev Sargar of India currently holds the record with a weight of 256 kg. He won a silver medal at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games with a 248 kg total lift.

Sanket Mahadev Sargar was born in Sangli, Maharashtra, on Monday, October 16, 2000. As of 2022, he will be 22 years old. He is a Libra by birth sign. He stated in an interview about how his love of weightlifting first began:

Children in our area virtually ever participate in any other sports. When I was thirteen, I started lifting weights.

His father enrolled him at the Digvijay Weightlifting Center in 2012 since it was close to their tea shop and was run by weightlifting instructor Nana Sinhasane. In an interview, Sanket described his rigorous routine as follows:

While talking about his humble background in an interview, Sanket’s father said, I used to tell him that my father use to sell bananas and I sell tea and pakoda. So dream big.”

His sister, Kajol Sargar, is a weightlifter who placed first in the women’s 40kg division in the Khelo India Youth Games in 2022. She will be studying science at Smt. Kasturbai Walchand College in Sangli, Maharashtra, as of 2022.
